Pulling to victory: British Army win gold for England at British and Irish Championships

The British Army women's tug-of-war team have won gold at the British and Irish Outdoor Tug-of-War Championships in Cork, Ireland.

Gold medal winners in 2024 and runners-up in 2025, the Army women's victory means they have returned to winning ways ahead of next month's World Championships.

Representing England, the Army finished on top in the women's 560kg competition, beating England's B team from Bedfordshire Tow into second place. Scotland's women's A team placed third overall.

The Army ladies will now turn their focus onto September's World Outdoor Tug-of-War Championships, which are set to take place in Mossel Bay in South Africa.

Last year, the Army finished just outside the medals in fourth place but won the bronze medal in 2023

They will be representing England once again at this year's tournament.
