Bobsleigh and brakeman Royal Marine Taylor Lawrence has helped power GB number one driver Brad Hall to a silver medal in the last World Cup two man race of the year.

Taking place at Sigulda in Latvia, the pair split the German number one and two bobs in the first heat.

They then matched that in the second heat, beating the World Champion Francesco Friedrich of Germany.

Johannes Lochner of Germany took gold with a time just 21 hundredths of a second quicker over the two heats to deny Hall his first World Cup Gold medal.

Watch: GB Bobsleigh's military personnel battle life-threatening injuries and funding fight to stay on ice.

Today's result places the pair third in the overall World Cup standings going into the Christmas break after three races.

Yesterday, Hall and Greg Cackett took fourth spot in the  second  world Cup race of the season on the same track.

That race also saw fellow Royal Marine Adam Baird with his brakeman Austin Millward win his first ever top ten world Cup finish.

The World Cup season continues in Winterberg Germany over the first weekend of January.
