Military strongmen and strongwomen have had success at the WHEA World Championships in Canada.

Corporal Rhys Calland, who is Europe's Strongest Man and a nominee for 2026 Army Sportsman of the Year, retained his men's open title with a superb performance that matched an impressive 2026 for him.

Corporal Paige Attwell was on top spot of an all-Army podium in the female under-75kg category with Private Simone Pipe in second and Lance Corporal Joanna Bastian in third.

Army competitor Corporal Simon Millins won silver in the men's under-100kg category and it was disappointment for the Royal Navy's Able Seaman (Diver) Kristofer Castanie, who missed out on a medal in fourth place.

In the men's masters competition, Sergeant Alan Lincoln (Army) came in second while Surgeon Lieutenant Commander Adam Griffiths (Navy) came in third.
