Russia's strategic nuclear missile submarines designed for naval base strikes

Russia's military recently staged planned annual nuclear exercises, with all three legs of its nuclear triad – submarine, land-based missiles and long-range bomber planes – involved.

According to footage released by the Russian Defence Ministry, included in the exercises is the country's strategic nuclear-powered ballistic missile Delta IV-class submarine 'Tula'.

The Russian Navy operates six of these Delta IV-class submarines – designed to carry out strikes on military and industrial installations as well as naval bases.
